The Founders Auxiliary Board, the result of the 2021 decision to unite the Children’s Health Board and The Board of Visitors, allocates funds to Children’s National through its Annual Grants and Major Gifts Programs. Through both Boards’ fundraising efforts, the Annual Grants Program has awarded close to $12 million to support initiatives to develop and sustain cutting-edge research and innovative treatments, purchase critical medical equipment, improve patient hospital experience and support the professional development of doctors, nurses and hospital staff as well as numerous health initiatives through the pediatric community clinics of Children’s National serving those most in need.
Individual grant requests must not exceed $25,000.

Grant request management system open for LOI Submission: Monday, August 21, 2023
LOI due to Founders Auxiliary Board: Monday, October 2, 2023 by 5 p.m.
LOI response from Founders Auxiliary Board to applicant: Monday, November 6, 2023
Full grant proposal due to Founders Auxiliary Board: Wednesday, December 6, 2023 by 5 p.m.
Grant request investigation Interviews by Founders Auxiliary Board: January and February 2024
Grant applicants notified of grant award and fund amount: by Tuesday, April 9, 2024
Funds will be made available to grantees on July 1, 2024 and all funds are required to be spent by June 30, 2025.

Grants awarded by the Founders Auxiliary Board have inspired change and transformative advances in diverse areas of service throughout the hospital. Past awards have supported research, child wellness initiatives such as concussion prevention, immunizations, cutting-edge equipment and technology, pediatric surgical robots, professional development, and educational support.
