Each year, The Board of Visitors selects an area within Children’s National that has a direct need, to fund via a raise the paddle during the live portion of our auction. Most recently, at A Vintage Affair 2020, the paddle raise provided the hospital with a Virtual Reality Simulation Training Program.
It was perfect timing as 2020 is the Year of the Nurse, and The Board of Visitors fund-a-need gift celebrates our amazing nurses at Children’s National Hospital. Children’s National is one of the Top 6 Pediatric Hospitals in the U.S. and our nurses are on the front lines providing exceptional care and comfort for our patients and their families. We know our nurses are outstanding and so does the American Nurses Credentialing Center who has designated Children’s National Hospital as a Magnet Hospital for the strength and quality of our nurses.
One of the reasons our nurses are exceptional is their commitment to education on the latest clinical developments. Simulating clinical scenarios enables them to constantly find ways to improve the care of our patients. This year we had a unique opportunity to invest in our nurses and their training and education. The Virtual Reality Simulation Training Program leverages cutting edge technology to enable our nurses to educate themselves on the latest innovations in quality, safety and patient care, all at their convenience.
A Vintage Affair is the annual Board of Visitors wine and culinary spring fundraiser where guests experience exquisite wines paired with inspired cuisine. This exciting epicurean event gathers wine lovers, foodies and Washingtonians for an evening to remember.
