The Board of Visitors allocates funds to Children’s National through its Annual Grants and Major Gifts Programs. Through the Board’s fundraising efforts, the Annual Grants Program has awarded close to $10 million to support initiatives to develop and sustain cutting-edge research and innovative treatments, purchase critical medical equipment, improve patient hospital experience and support the professional development of doctors, nurses and hospital staff.

2020-2021 Grants Dates

Grant management system open for Letter of Intent (LOI) submission: August 1, 2020
LOI due to Board of Visitors: October 1, 2020
LOI response from Board of Visitors to applicant: October 23, 2020
Full grant proposal due to Board of Visitors: November 23, 2020
Grant request investigation interviews by BOV: January/February 2021
Grant applicants notified of grant award and fund amount: April 1, 2021

To submit a Letter of Interest (LOI), please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to https://boardofvisitors.grantplatform.com/
  2. Register to create an account, or use an existing account you created for a prior submission
  3. Review the key information and dates on the Grants Platform home page
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the home page and click the purple  “Start Entry” button when you are ready to submit your LOI

Grants awarded by the Board of Visitors have inspired change and transformative advances in diverse areas of service throughout the hospital. Past awards have supported research, cutting-edge equipment and technology, pediatric surgical robots, professional development, educational support, and the transformation of Little Tykes cars and wagons to accommodate devices for oxygen, IV poles and monitors for the smallest patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
